Want The Secret Personal
and Financial Freedom?

Mesothelioma diagnosis can be difficult to assess since many of the symptoms of mesothelioma are also symptoms of other far less serious problems. However if you ever worked in an area were there was asbestos or if you even went to a school were asbestos was used as insulation, you may want to watch for the following symptoms as part the mesothelioma diagnosis.

Symptoms such as a cough or pain in the chest, accumulation of fluid in the chest, shortness of breath, weight loss, abdominal swelling, trouble swallowing or even swelling of the neck or the face. As you may realize there are many other ailments that these symptoms could indicate in addition to mesothelioma cancer. One thing to remember though is that you could have been exposed to asbestos 30 or 40 years ago. The asbestos fibers could have been in your system all of this time and for some reason, cancer cells begin to form many years later.

Mesothelioma diagnosis may consist of some or all of the following depending on the stage of your cancer and how difficult it is to diagnose what is causing your symptoms. Chest x-rays, cat scans, MRI, a PET scan, A PFT test, a biopsy, a thoracotomy, a thoracosopy or a centesis. Some of these tests are relatively easy to deal with, while others are quite invasive and will only be acted on should chest x-rays indicated that there is something that should be looked at further.

There is one other major point to remember. Mesothelioma cancer is relatively easy to misdiagnose. Patients and doctors must take into account the patients work history in addition to the medical symptoms he or she may be exhibiting to fully assess the diagnosis and make a final determination. Patients sometimes must be their own best advocate and if you cannot do it yourself, have a close family member assist you in having your symptoms diagnosed. Mesothelioma cancer can be aggressive and you do not want to wait until it is too late.
